Congrats to the Georgia Bulldogs
Kirby finally did it.
I could be smarmy and say that Alabama would have won without all of the injuries, including to their best offensive weapon during the game, but I won’t, for now.
Georgia earned it by keeping Alabama to 30 rushing yards on the night and pressuring the hell out of Bryce Young, who was running for his life the entire night. It is hard to replicate a 421-yard performance when that his happening.
And hats off to Stetson Bennett. I gave him a lot of grief over the last couple of years, but he delivered when it mattered and brought a long sought national championship home as a life-long Georgia fan. How awesome is that?
Nobody can ever take that away from him.
I don’t know what this championship means going forth. I highly doubt that Georgia has now un-seated Alabama as the kings of college football, but can you imagine if they are able to land say, a Jaxson Dart in the portal?
As for Alabama, I know today we are all feeling sorry for Nick and crew (yes, that is sarcasm), but now we have a very pissed off Alabama coming to Austin in a matter of 241 days. I know my liver is already very excited.
And yes, it is thoroughly depressing that the greatest sport on Earth has such a short season.
See you soon.
